The background of this page is the letter Stan received from President George W. Bush for the "Bush Blade" Stan gifted him in March 2005. The blade featured on the banner above is a really good picture of the actual knife given to President Bush! Scroll down to see more pictures of the gift and further description.
The plaque reads: To My Hero GEORGE W. BUSH Presented by Stanley Payne Montgomery, Alabama March 2005
This awesome piece (#70) is 16 1/2 inches long. The blade is Mexican Peacock Obsidian; the hand-guard is White Italian Marble; the handle is Picasso Marble. The beautiful custom-made locking walnut display case was made by Mr. Ray Griggs of Seale, Alabama. The knife was laid in a backdrop of burgundy velvet over super-soft foam. We photographed this in our home on a coyote and bobcat pelt. The style of this knife was duplicated with different blade material in the Twin Daggers on our Creations For Sale page. Stan was not able to actually present this gift to President Bush, but some strings were pulled to get the gift to the Secret Service, who in turn got it to the President after undergoing certain extensive inspections and investigations. Stan actually received a phone call on his cell phone from the White House!! HOW COOL IS THAT?! The lady that called him worked in the White House and she indicated that she handled all the gifts to the President and has been in her position for the past 15 years. She wanted to know details about the knife, what is was made of, how much it was valued at, what the case was valued at, what the key and key chain (for the lock on the box) was worth, etc. She told Stan that in her 15 years in her capacity at the White House, this was by far one of the finest gifts to come across her desk!!
